1. Please introduce yourself.: I'm Sandra! Currently a homemaker due to my health issues, but am working towards getting on my feet. I enjoy browsing the internet, listening to music and spending time with my fiance.
2. How long have you been making websites?: Since 2025! I've only recently gotten into the hobby.
3. And what got you into the hobby?: I was addicted to changing my blog on Tumblr in 2012 and that's where my love for coding began. I can't remember how I stumbled across Neocities, but seeing everybody's sites and how creative they were made me decide to see if I still had some coding experience left in me LOL.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?: Usually personal blogs or sites that have their own individuality to them! I also love, love, love blogs with nostalgic vibes to them.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: I usually pick the aesthetic as I go along! Sometimes I'll base it around an image or pixels I've found.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.: Basically all the people that I follow on Neocities! I love the aesthetics and vibes they have for their sites.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?: Seeing my site when it's completely finished. Looking at it makes me see things I already forgot to add/fix/change though...
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?: Creating a base. I do better with using templates and just adding whatever I want as I go like cursors, top laces, music, etc. I also have a hard time trying to figure out what to write about. I'm a pretty boring person with a very basic life, but I just don't have a way with words like most people on here.
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: I use different ones! I'm somebody that grows tired very easily of my sites looking a certain way, so having them all doing their own thing really helps with that.
10. How confident are you with CSS?: Sort of? I'm learning as I go, but it's still really difficult for me.
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: Sure don't, but I usually google things as I go anyways just to make sure I'm doing everything correctly.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?: < b >, < i >, anything that makes my words stand out!
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: I’m still getting the hang of coding, so I usually use templates. But for the design, I just throw things together until I'm happy.
14. Do you know JavaScript?: Sort of, it's still something that I struggle with.
15. How about PHP?: Not. At. All.
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: I think I pick it out as I go. I like for them to have a specific color scheme and then I pick things based off the color(s) I have in mind. I mainly stick to pastel, cute vibes, but I also love dark themes as well!
17. Are you more focused on content or design?: Design. If things are wonky and hard to follow, it makes me want to immediately click off.
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: I don't and I'm not really sure if I'd care to?
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: Love them! They make me miss the old internet.
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: I just put stuff together and hope for the best honestly, so I don't know.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: I like them!
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?: I like to look! I can get a bit overwhelmed though if there's a lot to look at.
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: I think I would be a bit more picky with each design I have for my pages. I'd clean up my index a bit better, but I'll do that... eventually.
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?: Yes! It makes me want to work on my coding skills even more.
25. What text editor do you use?: I use Sublime Text! I'll refresh the page as I go to make sure everything is put together as it should.
26. Why do you use that one?: I've tried Phoenix Code before, then found Sublime Text shortly after and have just stuck with it ever since. It's just easy to follow along with and I don't feel overwhelmed when using it.
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: I use Filegarden! It's literally the best and making folders on there of what I use on my sites really helps me keep everything organized.
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: This is not relevant to me, sorry. I do love Neocities though!
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: I'm not sure.
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?: Yes! Just in case lol.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: It really depends. I like the look of highly visual sites, but they can become a bit overwhelming to me.
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: I just do whatever I'm feeling tbh. I like many aesthetics, so all of my pages will usually reflect that.
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: Nope! I'm still a newbie and have a lot to learn!
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: A solitary hobby. There are a few people that I would really love to be friends with though, but I'm terribly shy. So I just admire their sites from afar LOL.
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?: My fiancé is the only person that knows. I'd like to stay as anonymous as possible.
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: I can't update them as much as I'd like to due to my head problems, but I try to get on when I can to tweak/update things.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: I usually just change out pixels, backgrounds, etc., but not the template itself. Mainly because I don’t have the time to really put into figuring out coding like I'd like to, so I try to cut corners when/if I can.
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: I think it's a little bit of everything? I don't want to dive too deep into my personal life, but I try to keep a persona on here as well as being myself if that makes sense.
39. Do you do web design professionally?: No, I get burnt out with coding sometimes, so I don't know if I'd want to do that every day.
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: Honestly, it's something that I've sort of thought about, but wouldn't really like to do as a job.
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?: The only person I speak to through email is my therapist LOL.
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: Yes! I try to avoid them as much as possible, but I have a bad habit for doomscrolling on TikTok (I'm trying to break myself from that though). I have accounts on other social media, but I just don't use them that much.
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: I use Discord mostly, but I use Facebook to communicate with family.
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: Yes, I listen to rock/metal/alternative, but I like to jump around with my playlists.
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: Neocities is the only website that I use. I don't think I'd be able to keep up with everything if they were scattered around.
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: It depends on the sections. My index page is just an intro to my site, my "about me" is, well, about me and etc.
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: I construct a persona in a way. I like to stay unknown here, but it's hard to do that when you tell things about yourself and what not. At the end of the day, I don't really mind people knowing who I am, but it's kind of like - if you know me, no you don't LOL.
48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: Not yet!
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: There's not really much I'd change.
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?: Auto-play music(!!!) and avoid holding yourself back. I find myself wanting to hold back on my opinions/what I write, but at the end of the day, if somebody disagrees and or doesn’t like it, they don't have to read it.
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: Have a sense of individuality. It's okay to take inspo from other places, but try to stay on the path of what you like and what you want your website to look like.
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: I'm guilty of generic structure due to, again, just not having the time to sit and learn step by step of how to build a website from scratch.
53. Do you consider different browsers?: Sometimes, but Opera has been very good to me, so I don't see myself straying away from it any time soon.
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: See above. As for why I think you should use it, idk lol. Everybody likes their own thing and if Firefox/Chrome/etc. does that for ya, then awesome.
55. And what OS are you on?: Windows 11.
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: It’s what my PC is updated to, so yeah.
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?: I don't really keep mobile in mind when making my websites. I know that I probably should, but I'm just too lazy to deal with the back and forth of checking to make sure they work anywhere else.
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?: I used to like it back in my Tumblr days, but I absolutely despise it now.
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: I think they’re cool and I'm slowly making my way into them!
60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?: Not yet, but I'm 'wanting to create a few in the future! What I like to see in that sort of page are details about the subject, why you love it + seeing the site themed as the subject is reallyyy cute too.
61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?: As far as I'm aware, idk. If they are though, I don't really care. I create them how I like them and if that's "cliche", then so be it lol.
62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: I want to learn how to code without using a template. Using them is a good start, but I want to eventually get to where I can create them from scratch.
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?: Nope.
64. What are your favourite resource sites?: Way too many to put! I mostly use Tumblr for my graphics, but there's a lot of sites on Neocities that I pull from as well. I just get whatever calls to me (and credit those that ask for that ofc).
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: I just throw things together and hope they stick. I don't pay much attention to if tags and what not are placed cleanly. If they work, they work.
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: I don't really have any since I'm pretty new to all of this as well, but I would say just do what you love. Who cares if a certain aesthetic is hated by a group? If you like it, then do it. It's your website and don't let people bully you into not making it into something you love.
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: I guess mostly in CSS.
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?: I like them a lot.
69. How about table-based layouts?: I don't mind them!
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: I'm still trying to learn column based layouts, but I LOVE them.
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: Honestly, I would say both are 50/50 lol. I want everything to be perfect, so I spend a lot of time in each of them to make sure they're exactly how I want them to be.
72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.: Nope, but I'm sure I will some time or another.
73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?: When the need arises. I never really sit here and think of a layout that I'm not going to use for sure on a site.
74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?: I’d say I'm in the middle. I'm familiar with coding due to Tumblr, but can still learn a few things.
75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?: Yes! I like seeing how they do things the way they do to get their site to how it is so I can understand it for when I create my site.
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?: I was on Tumblr a lot throughout my teenagehood, so I spent most of my time changing my blog themes all the time.
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?: Probably LMAO.
78. Thoughts on floating elements?: Pretty neat!
79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?: I mainly use ezgif and change it by trial and error, so idk lol.
80. Do you have a favourite font?: Verdana and Times New Roman has never failed me.
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?: Probably not unless the both of us had similar aesthetics or could make the aesthetics melt well together. I'm a perfectionist and get easily frustrated when something isn't being done the way I'd do it though, so.
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: Yes!
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?: Sometimes if there's something I'd like to come back to that I didn't get around to checking out. I only do it for resource blogs most of the time though. I would be very honored if somebody bookmarked mine!
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: How put together it is.
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: I still have my DS Lite, Gameboy and my Playstation 2, 3 and 4. Along with their games I've gotten throughout the years. Other than those things though, I don't really collect much else.
86. How often and for how long are you online?: I used to be online every day before my health issues came up. Now I'm only on the days I feel I can tolerate it.
87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?: Myself! I appreciate those that enjoy my site, but at the end of the day, I do all of this for myself.
88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?: No.
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?: No.
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: I currently use Carrd for my personal site, but that's about it.
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: Yes, but I haven't gotten one put up yet! I love them.
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?: Not really. They've always been a bit hard for me to understand and move around, so I don't use them.
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?: I type it directly into the editor. Sometimes if it's things like this, I'll use Google docs to fill them out.
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: Not really.
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?: Seeing my old website, I think I did alright for my first time uploading on here LOL.
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: I would probably just get rid of the blog section due to feeling odd that I have personal things about me posted. I'd leave the rest of it up though.
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: I'm a little bit of a mixture? I try to stay secretive, but obviously that's hard when you're running a personal website. I just want to keep a fine line between what to share and what not to share when posting here. Not everything needs to be put online.
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?: I do have an online best friend, but she doesn't have a website (as far as I'm aware).
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?: Nope, I sometimes resize them to fit if I have to, but that's about it.

[I'm questioning...]: What we're all doing with our lives. We get up, work, sleep. It's a constant pattern and things aren't supposed to be as miserable as they are. We were never supposed to live like this.
